There is no charm equal to tenderness of heart. ~ Jane Austen

Here’s a little bit on the historical stories I’m currently working on.

It all happened while cleaning the kitchen…When I scrub down the counters, more often than not, my mind wanders. And many times it wanders to a story I’m currently writing or planning. I knew I wanted to start writing something historical and all of a sudden the title “The Matchmaker” came to me. That day I sat down and wrote the first 4,000 words of the novel length story. “The Matchmaker Meets Her Match.” While writing it, I thought it would be fun to write a short prequel and show a match that is mentioned in the longer novel. So I started “The Trouble with Matchmakers.”

These two stories-one a novel and one a short novella-take place in 1880’s St. Louis, Missouri.

The Matchmaker-Sophie Hartwell-upper-middle class. Her brother is an accomplished lawyer. She is the mistress of the household since his wife died and helps in raising his three daughters.

Her Match-Phineas Reinhardt-wealthy investor and real estate magnate and a friend to Sophie’s family for as long as she can remember.

Sophie’s friend and the heroine in “The Trouble with Matchmakers-Genvieve Renfrew-school teacher

The object of her affection-Harland Stratton-Banker, his family has old money.

These stories are coming along wonderfully. Can’t wait to share more very soon.
